Dr Mehrshad Parvin Hosseini joined CaHRU in March 2022 as a Research Associate in Health Economics and Econometrics. He will be working on a national NIHR funded study, Community First Responders’ role in the current and future rural health and care workforce. He will contribute to this study and the wider work of CaHRU by drawing on his research experience in economic and econometrics studies.
Prior to joining CaHRU, Mehrshad worked as assistant professor of economics and econometrics in various international academic institutions like University Science Malaysia (USM), Multimedia University (MMU) Malaysia and Sohar University in Oman with more than 12 years of academic experience in terms of teaching and research.
He was also an active member of enterprise and industry research team in the Faculty of Business at Sohar University in Oman and course coordinator for international economics. He earned his PhD in Economics from University of Science Malaysia (USM).
Mehrshad has also completed his Master of Economic Management (MEM), and Bachelor of International Business Law. He has published his research in major international and local peer-reviewed journals including Cleaner Production, Asian Economic Papers (MIT press journals), Economic Research-Ekonomska Istraživanja, New Zealand Economic Papers, Institutions and Economies, and International Journal of Business, Humanities and Technology. His research interests are health economics, probability econometrics, economics of innovation, technology transfer, service sector economics, labour economics, firm level analysis, cross sectional and time series data analysis. He has also conducted workshops and training in econometrics, STATA software and international economics.
